Olivia graduated from the University of Derby in 2020 with a First-Class Honours Degree in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation. During her time at university, she completed placements in a variety of settings such as student lead clinics, youth football clubs and private clinics. During her time at university, she was also able to undertake a placement with Get Back To The Action where she developed key therapy skills such as sports massage and manual mobilisations as well as patient care and communication.
Throughout her time at university, Olivia had a particular interest in the psychology of injuries, focusing on this for her independent study. She has worked to develop her knowledge of the impact injuries can have on the mental health of athletes and the general population and hopes to utilise this knowledge when developing treatment and rehabilitation plans when in clinic.
In September 2023 Olivia started her Postgraduate study in Sports Medicine at Leeds Beckett University.
Away from Sports Therapy, Olivia also works providing physical education to primary school children, particularly focusing on work within the early years foundation stage. This work has allowed Olivia the opportunity to focus on understanding fundamental movements within children and how these key movements and movement patterns can transfer through different age groups and the impact they have on biomechanics and physiology within the body.
Both sports therapy and physical education within the early years are two of Olivia’s main areas of interest and she continues to develop both of these areas of her knowledge alongside one another.
Outside of work, Olivia volunteers with a local cub scout group and has been involved with the same group for the last 9 years. She has used this experience to gain communication, leadership and confidence skills as well as participating in new activities, particularly on outward bounds camps.
