Harry Ashworth BSc (Hons)

Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapist., BSc (Hons), MHCPC, MCSP.

Harry has been practicing as a Sports and Musculoskeletal practitioner since 2017 and holds 1st class degrees in both BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy from Teesside University. Harry is a former member of the Society of Sports Therapists, and a current registrant with the HCPC and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). Harry is also a former NHS England student council member, Physiotherapy course representative, AHP workforce support champion and a Learning Disabilities advocate champion.

At the age of 15, Harry initially thought that he wanted to be a Diagnostic Radiographer, but after completing work experience in this field he soon realised that this was not the path for him. After sustaining multiple back injuries at the ages of 16 and 17, Harry seeked the help of a sports therapist to help him, well… get back to the action…(sorry). It was at this time that Harry then decided that he wanted to be able to help others and rehabilitate sporting and musculoskeletal pain and injuries so that they could live their lives and continue with activities that are meaningful to them.

Harry has a vast array of experience in both the NHS and in private MSK practice, and has worked with children, professional and high-level athletes, the general population, older/elderly adults with co-morbidities and significant health conditions (Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease etc.), and those with mild to profound learning disabilities. Harry’s placements throughout both his Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy degrees allowed him to gain experience working in University team rugby and football, student led massage and injury clinics, Oncology/Haematology, Acute Medicine, Cardiothoracics and CICU, Neuro rehab, Orthopaedics, Learning Disabilities and Cardiac rehab.

Harry started out his career as a Sports Therapist back in 2017 working out of a room from a local hardcore gym and for a local gymnastics club, alongside completing a season in semi-professional football for Guisborough Town FC. Harry then joined GBTA as a junior Sports Therapist around 2017/2018 for a couple of years whilst working full-time within the NHS. Harry then decided to take a step back from GBTA to focus on life outside of the clinic and to pursue the attainment of a degree in Physiotherapy and HCPC registration. Fast forward to 2025 and Harry is now happily married with his own home and is a fully qualified BSc (Hons) Physiotherapist and Sports Therapist. In the time away from GBTA, Harry continued to build his knowledge, skills and experience in the world of MSK and sporting injuries and rehabilitation. Harry has worked exclusively with high level and long-distance runners, professional MMA athletes and is currently the Physiotherapist to Redcar’s local professional boxing phenom, Bobby Dalton.

Harry also worked in various community therapy services within the NHS from January 2018 to December 2025. Harry progressed within the NHS from a Specialised Therapy Assistant to an Associate/Therapy Assistant Practitioner, and finally to a Developmental Specialist Physiotherapist in adult learning disabilities. Harry then made the decision to follow his true passion, to leave the NHS after 7 long years and fully immerse himself in becoming a full time Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapist. Harry’s mission is to provide a multimodal, holistic, balanced, evidence-based and person-centred approach to help anyone and everyone to overcome their pain and injuries, so that they can continue to do what it is that they love to do in their lives. Harry also has a true passion for promoting and facilitating the implementation of current exercise guidelines and resistance training for everyone, to allow us all to age gracefully, maintain quality of life and remain physically functional until we’re old and grey.

Harry treats any condition, any age group and any level of physical function or sporting level. However, Harry’s specific clinical areas of special interest include:

  • Injury management in weightlifting sports (power lifters, body builders, average gym goers and CrossFit/Hyrox trainers)
  • Injury management in boxing and MMA fighters
  • Running injuries and running programming
  • Chronic low back pain (including back pain with and without radicular leg pain)
  • Plantar fasciitis / fasciopathy
  • Exercise recommendations and programming for general healthy aging and in the older adult population

  • Muscle strength, muscle power and VO2 max as predictors of all cause mortality, frailty, adverse health conditions and overall longevity
  • Hormone optimisation in the aging population (male and female)

Outside of work, Harry enjoys spending time in the gym looking after his own physical and mental health and wellbeing, going for walks, and spending time with family and friends. Harry is also an avid musician and guitar collector having played the electric guitar since the age of 11 years old.
